About
BS”D!
Shalom and welcome to the Ladder of Jacob. This website is dedicated to exploring the person of Yeshua of Nazareth through the various levels of PaRDeS. My name is Ben Burton and I became a believer in Yeshua in 1998, an event that changed the course of my life.
I am not a Rabbi. I am not Jewish. I do not claim to be an authority on anything. In the capacity of this website, I do not wish to lay claim to the title of a “teacher,” but only a “student.” The pages of this website should be read as studies, not teachings. I am constantly learning and growing. My focus here is on the deeper levels of the Torah and the Gospels. Every action of the Mashiach in the Gospels has incredible and deep ramifications.
May HaShem bless you as you go deeper, and ascend higher in Him.
Shalom!

Shabbat Shalom Benjamin!
I discovered your wordpress through a Messianic acquaintance on FB in the “Messianics” group 🙂 I am so glad he shared a link to your website, your studies are VERY interesting and well documented, the layout is amazing and the content easy to read for sometimes hard things to understand 🙂 Please keep on studying and sharing, I am SO blessed with this!

I am not exactly sure of how I came upon your site except that we have the same family name. However, I am very impressed by your studies and understanding. You dig far deeper than I and thus I like what I see. Thank you for the time it takes to reveal your understanding. I am blessed.
The Lord revealed Himself to me in 1963. I am a slow learner and it took another twenty years before He baptised me with His Holy Spirit. Through a free trip to Israel, I came to live in Israel as a photographer. The Father has informed me that I am a witness to what He is doing, thus, I am a scribe; not with quill and parchment but with a camera.
Again, thanks for your insights.
I found your references to some old commentary on Heb 9 atonement very helpful and fascinating. If it’s possible then plz create a full english translation of that Messianic commentary and share with all of us. Would you plz make your commentary in a module form for theword bible software and share via wordmodules.com ? It would be awesome and greatly helpful and convenient. You can keep adding updates to your commentary. Make a module by the name Jewish Christian commentary for easy identification. I have David Stern commentary but he is wrong on the issues of arguments against the law. Check Jewish publications folder in wordmodules.
hi, please tell me and link if you have a newsletter I can subscribe to Thank you
Well done. Highly informative.
Shalom B”H, Good work, may the Eternal continue to give you wisdom from above, blessings
Hello! You inspired one of my favorite authors to write many books! He told me to look on your page. I have read nearly everyone of your articles! I have 12 more to go:) They are some of the most edifying articles on scripture that I have ever read, but you do something that no one else does and gives snippets of other scholarly work, and it comes out so beautifully! I have been inspired to read some of the books in your articles and it has really all helped me understand the bible so much better. Do you have any books that I can purchase?
Awesome website! Kol haKavod!
I think you would enjoy my commentaries on Daniel (God is Judge) and especially on 7-8th century OT literature (Dark Sayings). My Apocalypse commentary PRITA (Pattern Recognition in the Apocalypse) is unique and Scriptural. You do some good work. I will be coming back regularly. P.S. Also check out my attached blog
I’m a Presbyterian minister (retired) who found The Secret of the Mem via Kindle. Having done doctoral study in Old Testament, I was deeply impressed by your thesis that Matthew and Luke were influenced not by pagan myths, but by the flourishing world of Jewish fathers who commented on the Bible’s stories of miraculous births. I would love to have your permission to quote you on the m’m. You deserve ful credit, of course. In retirement, I write books for lay people, not scholars, and the doctrine of the virgin birth is a particularly touchy subject. I want to shift the topic from whether it “really happened” to the question of what influenced the gospel writers to write as they did. Thanks for the very refreshing information you relate.
There are some in the Messianic movement that remove Yeshua’s diety as the son of G-d, naming him G-d’s agent – as defined in the Jewish encyclopedia. I sometimes livestream a HR congregation that only ties in Messiah twice or so in a teaching, relying almost exclusivley on the presenter’s understanding of the sages understandings of matters. (Definitly not the academic necessity of presenting primary documents.) Yeshua is almost an afterthought. I love “Hebrew Roots”. I love the language, I love the scholarship. Yet, I cannot abide the sidestepping of Yeshua’s rightful place within the teachings, his embodiment of ALL THINGS truth, that He is emet! Each Shabbat, I end up indignant and tearing apart the teaching by recalling the things that Yeshua did and said that SHOULD have been also referenced in the teaching. If you say you are a believer in Yeshua and depend on His sacrifice for your salvation, why would you not want to teach Him, talk about Him? He is the greatest gift G-d ever gave us! Our very lives would be for NOTHING without Him. In these Shabbat messages, He is included almost as an afterthought, when He should be the center point around which all other points are made. I am very, very, grateful to have your parsha teaching pop up on my YouTube feed, right after the end of the livestream of the other fellowship. I usually click off but today, I didn’t and YouTube started running your livestream in the middle of it! I listened and Yeshua was there! Everywhere! You used the sages to cement Yeshua as the example for our moral walk, where our hearts should be, not simply walking because it is the “right” thing to do. We follow Him because he demonstrated the “good”. I am not judging some of these other congregations. I fear for them, and am disappointed because they could be so much more and accomplish so much more in the hearts and lives of people if they put Yeshua FIRST and alongside, as you do. Thank you for your obedience to Shema, by hearing G-d’s voice as He spoke through Yeshua’s earthly life. I will be frequently on your website and grateful.
Hello sir, I saw a teaching you did years ago on glc about the red heifer, is it available somewhere, YouTube, Facebook, etc…
